Normandy is a haven for fisherman of all types. With many first class rivers, trout and salmon fishing is not a thing of the past, in fact, 40% of the line caught salmon in France are caught in the department of Manche. If carp and lakes are your thing then there are plenty to be found.
The rich shores in the bay of mont st Michel are a haven for shellfish, and cockles, oysters, mussels, crabs and soles can all be gathered from the sands at low tide. Peche a pied is a common past-time, and a large number of locals can be seen ant like on the beach on the lowest of tides, collecting dinner.
The seas are also abundant with mackerell, bass, bream and grey mullet.
